Since 1979, the Glass
Artists Fellowship “GAF” has served as a
forum for glass artists throughout
Colorado and beyond, initiating
opportunities for education, sharing,
promotion and friendship. Its
fundamental goals are accomplished
through newsletter distribution,
seminars, workshops, guest speakers and
field trips to local studios to
experience various techniques in art
glass.
Dear Glass Artists,
Our 3rd annual Glass at the Gallery show
is fast approaching and a few things
need to be done ASAP. Please, please,
please send pictures to our newsletter
editor Linda Cranston so she can create
a postcard and poster - deadline April
20th. Her email is:
linda@nbm.com. Remember the theme
is 'Wild and Crazy' so do go crazy with
this one! I have attached the entry
form with all the details on catagories,
fees, etc. I have once again sent out
begging letters to the industry and the
donations are pouring in - more than
last year and last year all first,
second and third place ribbon winners
also got a gift. It looks like even the
honorable mentions will be receiving a
gift of product as well. So far I have
received 3 glass packs, books, tools,
tape, solder, lamp forms, grinder heads,
and fused glass goodies! There's only
one month left before we set up and it
will fly by so get crackin' - oooh - no
cracks ;-)
Our next meeting will again be at Mike
and Sandi Penfound's studio: 1010 S
Cody Street, Lakewood, 3:30, Sunday May
1st. For those of you who want to
participate in the Gift Gallery for the
first time, please bring a
representative sample of your work to
the meeting to be pre-judged. Mike and
Sandi will have a demo of one of their
techniques so join us for a fun and
informative afternoon!
The “Glass Show at
Echters,” Arvada, Colorado,
allows artists to sell their work in a
more casual, holiday infused atmosphere.
Both of these shows are premier exposure
opportunities for glass artists.
Originally, the
majority of Glass Artists Fellowship
members were stained glass artists, but
over the years, the membership has grown
and evolved to reflect the dynamic
nature of art glass. Our members now
include artists in cold, warm, and hot
glass in equal numbers. Add to this the
myriad techniques in each of those areas
plus the unique and individual styles of
our members and you get a diversity
beyond rival.
